Of parties, Hospitals and Shiny things

So this week has been rather hectic, it all started last week with me ending up in the hospital on Sunday because i had a medication interaction, that caused me to have sever vertigo and diaphragm spasms, in other words i couldn't breath well. so i spent my day in the ER which i found out that it was the first day they had opened, for they had been putting a huge expansion onto the front of the hospital it's self a new ER being part of it, so nurses where all running about trying to find things, and trying to figure out which nurse went with what patient. and ways they sent me home rather drugged and with some anti vertigo medicine that did nothing, 4 days latter the vertigo was still just as bad so i went back to my doctor who gave me a huge intramuscular shot and some more meds, the shot finally stopped the spinning, so now the vertigo isn't as bad, it just feels like I'm on a ship. and gets better every day.

well on Saturday Jr had his graduation party which went really well, my aunt made another really cool cake and there was a ton of food, which we now have a least 1/2 of in the fridge as left overs. that night we went and saw the fire works, they where great!! really pretty, though we scared the dog, we made the mistake of taking her along with us, and by the end of the night she was hiding in the car. Well Today was an awesome day!!!! this mornings service was great, then i had a good nap in the afternoon, went to choir practice at 5:15 then started the normal service. it was a little different though, Matthew was acting funny (well funnier than usual) he asked me to help with sermon in the sack which he never does, so he stared his usual gig, of asking kids what was in the sack, finally one of the kids, guessed that it was rocks, only because he had overheard, Matt and I talking about it. any way he started handing me all sorts of rocks and talking about their properties and how they are unchanging and so forth, and here i am holding more and more rock. then out of nowhere he says "and some rocks are small and delicate that they have to be put in boxes" so he pulls out this little blue ring box and my heart jumped though my chest, he showed the kids what was inside then turned and showed me, inside was a beautiful Sapphire and diamond ring, and before i knew it he was down on one knee asking if i would marry him!!!! of course i said yes!!! So yes it was an interesting service and one i will never forget!!!!!!

Goodbye's are the hardest

On Tuesday morning we packed up the rest of isable's things and took her to the air port, we got her all checked in then exchanged several very tear filled hugs before she had to go though security and get on her plaine. She left at 1:49 pm here and arived at home at 8:30 am Wed morning in San Palo. We already miss her dearly espicaly me who is now roomateless. Yet thanks to the wonderous internet i have been able to talk to her quite a bit, using Facebook and MSN messenger, since then life has been the same, we all go to work, then come home and do more work, then sleep and get up the next day and do even more work. so yea such is life. If any one wants her e-mail address let me know and i can give it to you.

it was so sweet, when her parent came to pick her up at the airport they had made her a banner that says "oi! Bel" which means "Hi! Bel" in portuguese, they also had matching tee-shirts that said the same thing. i've a picture of it here. Also before she left she wrote some notes on my white boards in my room, one on the big board, then one on the small door board, which we used to write eachother messages or where we where going to be. it made me cry when i read them. hopeing you all the best, see ya!

Graduation!

Yes it is that time of year when all the seniors sigh with great relief, homework is done, finals are no more and the only thing left is to take that long walk into a stiffiling hot gymnasium to sit for hours listing to bad speeches, and even worse music, to only be rewarded by a piece of paper that will only sit on your shelf and collect dust...well it wasn't that horriable, Yes it was really that hot, it was more like a sona then a gym but it was well worth watching our two graduates (jr and bel) as well as tim. Isabel got to walk with her friend Laura C. form Italy, (she leaves tomarow:*( *sniff sniff)) we'll all miss her. Jr. walked with some guy he didn't know but he didn't mind. The speaches this year were at least barable *wink* ...ok they where good. the studendts did a very good job. Thankfuly it didn't rain on us, yet it would have been welcomed after we spent some much time in that sona. :) any way, as tridition stands Gradma Margie took us all out for ice cream after wards and we filled our selfs to the brim. latter that evering tim, matt, and jason came by to play video games which was fun.
in other news I am officaly a YFU volunteer! and am responsible for the flat rock area! So if any one knows any one who is intrested in hosting a forgein exchange student *Please* let me know! we have to have all our kids placed by august and we still have a ton of great ones to choose from, being a rep. means i get to look at all ther documentations so i could see exactly who a person is as well as what they are like. So please tell your family and friends and let me know!!!
on a more depressing note, the count has begun, as of this morning we only 16 more days to be with bel :( *sniff sniff* She is sechduled to leave tuesday June 24 at 10:00am. We have come to know her as family and personaly as my little sister. it will be very hard to see her go. we are planning on having a suprise farewell party for her on Sunday June 22 between church services, i'm sure she'll be happy if you all came out, but there will be more on that latter.
in the medical relm, last tuesday i had my ekg to which i have still heard nothing, and this mornigng i had 2 more MRI's one of my brain (to be safe and rule out MS) as well as one of my mid back, which is where they believe all the issues are. well i've bored you enough for now. talk to y'all latter!

Yes...I am still alive out here

Hey all. Yes to answer every one's question I am indeed still alive out here. I know i haven't updated in like....forever, but um...yea i totally have no reason. So here is an update on what has been going on since then. Mom was finally diagnosed, she does have M.S. and is dealing with it very well, she is on medication and it seems to be working. Isabel and JR are preparing to graduate. they keep bouncing about the house saying they only have one day of school left. Although we all shed a little tear when we realized that Isabel will only be with us for 3 and 1/2 more weeks :(. We love her to death and will be torn to see her leave. On a lighter note, I applied to a Veterinary Technician Program though Wayne State and all has gone well... I had my interview last week and it was spectacular, they said i had the highest entry score that they had seen in a long while (yay!!) so i have to wait until the second week in July to hear anything on that. Work is going well except that I went from 6th on the seniority scale to 3rd because we lost 2 due to graduation/ babies and one quit. sooo ya lots more work for me! I'm preparing to take my Pharmacy Technicians classes so i can be licenced by the state! As far as my life is concerned my back has been the root of all evil. For some reason my shoulder blade sticks out way too far causing a great deal of pain like being shocked, I've been MRI'ed and EMG'ed and they are still not sure of the main cause. I'm still waiting for the EMG results. I really do hope they figure it out soon. Not much else has gone on besides that I'll try to update more often... i guess i need a more interesting life... oh well. take care!

on hands and feet

Hey all, it's been kinda hetic around here. As most of you know mom has not been feeling to well, she have been numb from the waist down for nearly 3 weeks now and is sechduled for an MRI on April 8th. we are all hopeing everying thing comes out well. They think she may be having an arthritic responce and her pain is being responded to as this numbness. Also Yesterday (monday) i had my own surgery on my foot to fix a nail problem (they tend to grow around my bones) and am now sitting here in quite a good deal of pain. so please keep both my mom and me in your prayers. One good thing that resulted from my foot docter visit is that they perscribed me a medication that can elimate the symptoms of my raynauds diesease, which means no more numbness and pain! makes me happy! In other news both my siblings (JR and Isabel) are leaving next week for spring break. JR is going to Texas to vist family and Isabel is going to New York with her travel group. they are both excited about it. work for me is going well, as every one knows by now i am a pharmacy tech at CVS. its fun and the people are great well thats all for now. bye!

Snowed in!!!

Hey out there! So it's March and not surprising enough there is still a good foot of snow on the ground. So much snow in fact that they actually closed down my college (that never happens). So we spent the day hanging around the house, then at 3 I went to work. Speaking of which, i did indeed start work this week, and I actually like it. I'm never board because they always have me running, and my boss said that is how it usually is so at least I'll never just be sitting there :). In other news every one here is still recovering from the flu, although it has reduced it's self to sneezes and sniffles by now (yay!) Today we went to the Autorama, there where lots of really cool cars including two very well know ones (at least to kids), lighting mcqueen and bumble bee. we (Isabel and i) went with my dad, his friends and his friends darugter. seeing those guys there was like seeing a little kid in a candy shop! they had a whole section devoted to shopping too, model cars, t-shirts old posters and so forth. I actually bought a model kit, it's a 68 Shelby mustang, unfortunately they didn't have my favorite the 67 but I'll live. what i didn't realize is that you have to build everything in the model, even the engine. so i bet my dad that i would finish my mustang before he finished his :). well that's enough for today see ya!

IHOP

Sorry for the complete lack of up date in the past 2 weeks, mainly it was due to the lack of me being home. For the past 2 weeks we have all been sick (well for the last 3 if you coun't my first bout) and when I say all I mean all, Isabel and Yuki included. So Matthew has dubed us IHOP, International House of Plague.
Any ways to reacap what has been going on, let me start from when Yuki got here. Within the first few days she was here Laura and I took her ice skating as well as sledding. The next week was our big week. On Monday we visited great lakes crossing (a massive Michigan mall) and sh oped till we dropped. Later that night we left for Chicago and had a blast. We froze, discovered that you really can cram a huge van into a tiny parking garage and that all intercoms whether it be in the elevator or parking garage have a personalty (they are all too chipper for me). We became all to familiar with that voice when with in the first 5 minutes of us arriving in Chicago we lost my mom in the parking garage. we where all waiting next to the elevator listing to the intercom say (in a very expensive voice) "welcome! you are on the 4th floor, if you wish to visit our main lobby please push the down arrow next to the elevator..." and it went on and on. finally after searching for a while a hotel attendant found us and told us where she was. Well our trip to Chicago was great. On Friday we again packed up and went to Niagara Falls on the American side. We took Laura's Tomtom GPS System and let me tell ya, that thing is soooo cool! and yes once in our trip it did say "please make a U turn at next available location" any one who has watched the pixar film "over the hedge" will understand why i find that so funny. Any ways, the falls are absolutely beautiful in the winter and there is no one there so we pretty much had the place to our selves. We got home Saturday night and vegged out for the next few days. I started training for my Job on Monday and finished today (Friday) arggg sitting in a class room everyday for 8 hours is tough let me tell you. Well Yuki left on Tuesday and it was a second tearful good bye for the two of us. At least will still be in touch, I miss her already. Well next week is my first official week of work. I will still be doing in-store training that week but at least it's at my store and not Detroit. I had no idea that when i took this job that it would be so involved or this hard. Oh well, I'm just happy i have one. well I've bored you enough. take care!

Yuki is here!

Hey every one! yesterday was really hetic, when i got home from school i had planned on rushing out to the air port to get Yuki, who was my host sister when i was in Japan in the summer of '04. well go figure it started to snow, so her flight was delayed from 4:00 untill 4:49. when we got there however, the flight had been changed to 5:30 so no big deal, we all went over to the starbucks and had coffee and tea. we had met up with Laura at the air port and we where all having a good time. so 5:30 rolled around and they pushed the flight back yet again. finaly we left and had some dinner across the street. unfortuantly the snow had gotten terrible and Laura had to leave so she could make it to her aunts house (she has a interview today with UofM, Go You!) Finaly Yuki's plane got in at 7-11 (the time not the store, Matt). We had to wait an additional 30 miniunts for her luggage to actualy get in then it was the slipperly ride home. with three very giggly girls all in the back. Every thing has been great so far. when we got Yuki home we gave her the grand tour and some soup, then it was a few hands of uno and bed. don't know what we're planning today but gotta run.

yay snow!

Hey there, i know it's not time for my weekly update, but oh well. Today there was a ton of snow! so much that i couldn't get to school, even though my school was evil enough to still hold classes. well i got back home and sat around untill Isabel got up, then around noon I took her sledding! we had so much fun. we went to the rockwood hill it was great. Isabel had never been sleding so she had lots of fun, in the end of it all we where both soaked to the bone due to how much snow we slid around in. latter we watched a few movies and Laura came over and we all played monopoly, it was fun, in the end it got to late and Laura had to go home and Isabel wanted to go to bed. so we called it a tie. We had lots of fun, yay girl time! I know Laura is suposed to talk to her horse trainer to see if we can go horse back rideing some time. well it's getting late. i have a few pictures here. enjoyl, talk at ya'll latter.

Shopping the next olympic sport

I think shopping should be made into a national sport! you definitely get exercise and not just from the physical walking but from all the think involved, you have to tally prices, make sure your balance will comply with it, find bargains, remember said bargains form store to store then remember how to find those stores again at the end to the day so as to be able to go back and purchase said item. phew! well I've been to the mall twice this week, once with Isabel and all her friends (the other exchange students) Isadora, Laura, and Amanda. It was too much fun, these girls know how to shop, they can find every possible deal imaginable, they found a 90% bargain at a store sheesh. any way on Saturday Isabel and I went up to the Somerset collection mall. we spent 5 hours shopping, we where sooo dead on our feet by the time we got into the car, that we came home and feel over and that was it for the day. on Friday we all went out to play wally-ball and by we i mean, Matt, Tom, Tim, Jason, Michel, Jeniffer, Isabel and myself. we had a blast, and we all found out that Isabel is really good at it :). Although the rest of the night didn't go as planned. we ended up taking Matt to the hospital because of his stomach, they finally determined that he did indeed have an ulcer as well as and elevated sgpt level, which he is going to check with his Doctor about later, so pray for him. we'll I've bored you enough see ya next week.

1 week already!

Hey out there!

today marks the one week mark since Isabel's arival last tuesday. It may have only been a week but it sure has felt longer, Isabel is doing great, she is fitting in soo well it shocks me. She already has lots of good friends most of them being other exchange students. We are getting along really well also, it really is like having a kid sister. She has a great since of humor and a wonderful personality. as her english continues to imporve by leaps and bounds she is talking more and more her great personalty is comming out. Yesterday we had the oppertunity to go to the Hennry Ford Museum or FREE! it was great, we got to see everthing, Isabel had a blast, after we completly drained ourselves of energy we went and saw an Imax movie about the deep ocean. it was really cool and in 3-D so that made it even cooler. later when we got home we sat around for a bit then played some Mario Cart, Jr beat us me mercilessly as usual. Latter Tom and Matt came over and we tried to play Monopoly, Isabel went to bed witin the first round and Tom managed to injur Matt so that kinda ended the game. So every one went home. Today Isabel and I went to the gym after school, and now where both really tired. well till next week,

Tchau (good bye)

Getting ready!

Hey out there,

just as promised it's Sunday and I'm updating (a miracle i know :) ) any way this past week My self and many others went back to school. My first week of classes was to be as expected, lots of "in this class we will be doing..." but the classes that i do have multiple times a week have gone well. This terms I'm taking Physics, Intro to Psych., Macro Economics and Aikido (a P.E. class). from what it seems the work load is much easier from last semester and i hope it stays that way. in other news we here at the Thompson house have been eagerly getting ready for Isabel's arrival on Tuesday. Her flight leaves San Palo Brazil at 11:45 pm. on the 14th and she will be arriving in Washington at 6:45, from there she takes a flight here and is scheduled to arrive at 10:11 am on the 15th. We almost have every thing set up here. She'll be bunking with me so that should be fun. I've always wanted a sister so I guess I'll get to see what it's like. Although she is probably going to freeze for the first few days, right now it is 87 degrees in San Palo so there will be a big temperature change. Well gotta get going.
*p.s.: for as cold as it is, i wish there was snow

Hey every one. Happy New Year! i know it's like been forever since i posted. Mainly due to the holidays. Christmas went great as usual, I received a new camera from my parents (big thanks going out to them) and am way too excited about it, I've run the battery out three times now he he. any way, i have enjoyed being on break and am sad to say that my self and many others will be heading back to school tomorrow. not much else to report here, vacation has gone well, lots of sleep taking place :) I've made it a bit of a new years resolution to write in here every Sunday, so i hope to be writing again very soon. talk to ya all latter.
